It is performed by a registered massage therapist who has completed specialized training in anatomy, physiology and massage techniques. The goal is to reduce pain, tension and stress in specific areas of your body. Our therapists work closely with the other practitioners in the clinic to ensure collaborative and integrative care of our patients.

Massage therapy is often used as an adjunct treatment to a variety of conditions, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, sports injuries, pregnancy related pain, and stress-related conditions. It can also help to improve circulation, reduce muscle tension and promote relaxation.

In traditional Chinese medicine theory, pathologies are the result of relative deficiency or excess in the body – which you may have heard referred to as the inequity between the yin and yang. The goal of Acupuncture is to stimulate the restoration of balance in the body, resulting in organs that function optimally and in harmony with all other body systems.

Many extended health plans will cover acupuncture with either a Registered Acupuncturist. Please check with your extended health provider for details.

During his time at school, he gained experience at several outreaches like The Summit - Intellectual Disabilities Society, Westerleigh PARC (retirement home), Simon Fraser University (athletics), and Capilano University (athletics). Through the experience gained from these outreaches, he developed a strong set of tools to provide aid and support in patients’ recovery and goals.

Ryan Kim as Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner

Ryan is a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P.) with the CTCMA in the province of BC. He studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Vancouver, BC. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) program to further his knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Ryan believes that by treating the body as a whole, we see amazing results. He loves how acupuncture and herbal formulas based on TCM are appropriate means of treatment for just about anything. He has experience treating a wide range of individuals seeking support for stress, anxiety, depression, sports-related injuries, musculoskeletal conditions like frozen shoulder or back/hip pain, digestive or sleep disturbances, autoimmune conditions, hormonal health, pre and postnatal support, and general well-being. You can expect a unique combination of treatment modalities from acupuncture, cupping, gua sha (scraping), and TCM herbal formulas to at-home care suggestions, such as diet advice based on TCM, to treat each individual’s unique needs.

Ryan is an RMT registered with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia. He believes in a holistic approach to health and patient-centered care. He is interested in treating soft tissue and joint injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents or sports activities and chronic musculoskeletal discomfort and pain caused by busy urban lifestyles. Ryan often integrates hot stone massage during his massage therapy treatments.

Direct billing is available with most extended health benefit providers. Otherwise, a receipt will be provided upon payment.

Ryan Kim as Manual Osteopathic Therapist

Ryan completed his manual osteopathy education at the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada (MOCC) in Vancouver, where he received an honors with distinction diploma in osteopathic manual practice. Ryan uses a holistic approach to address numerous body dysfunctions. Manual osteopathic therapists are trained in myofascial techniques, craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, osteo-articulation techniques, and much more. Ryan offers personalized treatments that include injury assessment, movement analysis, and diverse osteopathic techniques.

Canada Life doesn’t cover osteopathy with the association Ryan belongs to. Direct billing is available with extended health benefit providers on Telus eClaims system except Canada Life.

Dr. Ashley MacInnes brings a wealth of experience in chiropractic and athletics to effectively serve all her patients. She has now been practicing for over 20 years in the Vancouver area. After attending SFU, UBC, and Université Laval, Dr. MacInnes graduated from Western States Chiropractic College (now Western States University) in Portland, Oregon.



She is an avid sports enthusiast – practicing what she preaches.  Her involvement in sports began with a successful career in downhill ski racing at the BC Ski Team level. She also competed in mountain bike racing, track and field and Tae Kwon Do, in which she holds a 2nd degree black-belt. She actively participates in CrossFit, surfs, plays beach volleyball, skateboards, and still skis for pure enjoyment.



Dr. MacInnes has recently started working with the Shore Sirens Mountain Bike race team, and has worked with the Vancouver Wave Rugby team as their lead medical practitioner and Performance Therapist.  She has extensive past experience as the official chiropractor of the SFU Varsity sports teams, was part of a team of Chiropractors treating the BC Lions CFL Football team, and has been the chiropractor for numerous world-title holders and fighters in K-1, Muay Thai, MMA, and Jiu-jitsu.



In terms of techniques, Dr. MacInnes has a full body certification in ART© (Active Release Techniques) and utilizes a variety of chiropractic techniques to suit an individual’s needs. Hi! I’m Dr. Alfredo and my passion is helping people understand how health works in their body. It’s not just about alleviating pain and symptoms but rather creating an optimal environment for healing.

I started my long haul of post-secondary studies at the University of Ottawa where I graduated with an Honours degree in Health Sciences. It was hear that I found my love for health, the nervous system and ultimately chiropractic. I then moved to Toronto to get my Chiropractic degree. Shortly after graduation I made the I moved to Nanaimo where I joined a clinic and built up a great practice with some awesome people! But something was missing. I made the decision to make a big move to Vancouver in the spring of 2018. A year and a half later I created Coastal Life Chiropractic as a way to use all my knowledge, skills and experience to best serve my community.

I am a lifelong learner constantly reading and taking course work in the areas of Neurology, Nutrition, Movement and health. I’m an avid Crossfitter and enjoy pushing myself physically and mentally.
